Module 5 — Safety First: Knowing Your Limits
If you remember one lesson from this whole course, make it this one. Knowing when something is beyond everyday home comfort — and acting on it quickly — is the most important skill a parent can have.
Signs that always mean get medical help now
- Any trouble breathing, fast or labored breathing, or bluish lips.
- A fever in a baby under three months, or a very high or persistent fever in any child.
- A stiff neck, a rash that does not fade when pressed, or a severe headache.
- Repeated vomiting, signs of dehydration, or refusing to drink.
- Unusual drowsiness, difficulty waking, confusion, a seizure, or limpness.
- A serious injury, a head injury with worrying signs, or heavy bleeding.
- Severe or worsening pain, or a child who simply seems very unwell.
- A sudden allergic reaction with facial or throat swelling.
Safety note: For any of the above, contact emergency services or your doctor immediately. Do not use homeopathy — or wait to “see if it passes” — in these situations. When you are unsure, always err on the side of getting help.
Trust your instincts
You know your child better than anyone. If a quiet inner voice says something is wrong, that is reason enough to seek care, even if you cannot name why. No professional will ever fault a parent for being cautious.
Good to know: Homeopathy, at most, sits in the realm of minor, self-limiting, everyday discomforts. The moment you leave that realm, conventional medical care is the answer — every time.
